  • by Train: Pisa central train station (Pisa Centrale) is on the railway line connecting Rome and Genoa as well as on the line connecting Leghorn (Livorno) to Florence. You can check the Trenitalia time table.
   
  From PISA to the CONFERENCE SITE
  By taxi :
You can hire a taxi at the Pisa airport or Pisa train station. At the Pisa airport the taxi pick up area is just in front of you when you exit the airport building straight ahead of the arrival gate. At the Pisa central train station taxis departure is on your left hand side exiting the train station building.
The average price for a daytime ride (20 km) to Green Park Resort (Calambrone-Tirrenia) is approximately 30-35 Euros. You may call +39 050 541600 for taxi reservation. In case all taxis are busy (it may happen in July) a reasonable alternative is to use the local bus services.

Pisa Airport - Calambrone
The city bus stop is on the left corner of the parking area out of the airport building. Bus departures (bus n.3) are every 20 minutes. The bus ticket can be bought at the automatic ticket machine at the bus stop (choose: "Extra-urban ride,  25km", 2.15 Euros: this ticket is valid for your final destination in Calambrone). The machine accepts also banknotes. Remember that tickets have to be validated using the appropriate machine on board the bus. Get out the bus at "Piazza Vittorio Emanuele" (next stop after the train station) and walk 100 m along "Via Nino Bixio" to Piazza St. Antonio (map). From Piazza St Antonio take bus n.10 to Tirrenia - Calambrone (final destination "Livorno"). Departures are every 15 minutes on average, starting from 5:00 AM until 11:30 PM (last ride). Ask the bus driver to be left at the Green Park Resort - Calambrone. The trip takes about 40 minutes. You can check the bus time table (note that rides marked "FS" take place only on Sundays).
Pisa central train station - Calambrone
Take a few minutes walk to the bus main station in Piazza St. Antonio (map): go straight along "Viale A.Gramsci" for about 200 m to "Piazza Vittorio Emanuele", then turn left into "Via Nino Bixio" and you reach "Piazza St Antonio" about 100 m far. From Piazza St Antonio take bus n.10 to Tirrenia - Calambrone (final destination "Livorno"). Tickets (2.15 Euro per ride, or 8.60 Euro for a 6-days ticket) can be bought at the bus main station in Piazza St Antonio, or at many newspaper kiosks (in Tirrenia also) or authorized shops. However tickets are sold also by the bus driver at a slightly higher price (2.50 Euro). See instructions given above.  
Tirrenia - Calambrone - Tirrenia
If you are hosted in Tirrenia you can use the same bus n.10 to go to the Conference and return. Rides are every 15 minutes on average. For this trip (approximately 4 km) the ticket price is just 0.80 Euro per ride (1.50 Euro on board). You can check the bus time table (note that rides marked "FS" take place only on Sundays).
   
  By car :
 
  • From motorway A12 (Genova-Rosignano): 
    • exit at "Pisa centro" and follow signs for Tirrenia. Drive approximately 7 km along via Pisorno. Once in Tirrenia take the seashore road (S.S.224) towards Livorno (that is having the sea on your right hand side) and drive for approximately 4 km. You will find Green Park Resort access road (Via delle Magnolie) on your left.
  • From Firenze-Pisa-Livorno expressway (S.G.C. FI-PI-LI): 
    • follow signs to Tirrenia. Drive approximately 7 km along via Pisorno. Once in Tirrenia take the seashore road (S.S.224) towards Livorno (that is having the sea on your right hand side) and drive for approximately 4 km. You will find the Green Park Resort access road (Via delle Magnolie) on your left.
   
  CONFERENCE BUS SERVICE
A daily bus service is organized to carry participants accommodated in Pisa and Tirrenia to and from the conference site. The TWO 50-seat conference buses, marked  "Amaldi 5",  will depart together from Pisa - Piazza St. Antonio (map) from Monday (July 7) through Friday (July 11) with the following stops:
  • 7:45am - Pisa, Piazza St. Antonio
  • 8:15am - Tirrenia, in front of Hotel Baleari (pick up point also for participants hosted at Hotel Gabbiano)  
  • 8:17am - Tirrenia, in Largo Belvedere (pick up point for Hotel Bristol, Hotel Medusa, and Hotel Continental)
  • 8:19am - Tirrenia, on Viale Tirreno, intersection with Via Capelvenere (pick up point for Hotel Consoli del Mare)
  • 8:25am - Green Park Resort
   
The return buses to Pisa (obeying the same stops) will leave Green Park Resort at:
  • Mon - July 7: 6:00pm
  • Tue - July 8: 11:30pm (after the concert)
  • Wed - July 9: one bus at 7:45pm (after the Data Analysis session) and one bus at 11:30pm (after the Round Table)
  • Thu - July 10: no buses, due to excursion & social dinner
  • Fri - July 11: 6:00pm
   
Please take note that conference bus service (2 buses = 100 seats) has been set up mainly for people accommodated in Pisa. Of course also participants hosted in Tirrenia can profit of buses passing by, taking into account that buses will stop just a few seconds at the indicated locations. Otherwise the public bus service connects Tirrenia with Calambrone about every 15 minutes at 0.80 Euro per ride. Finally, a 3 - 5 km walk in the morning is very healthy.
   
  RENT A CAR
You may want to rent a car at one of the several companies having a booth at the airport. WE SUGGEST YOU TO RESERVE IN ADVANCE (see car rental companies). Exit the airport following signs for Tirrenia,  you will be taking Firenze-Pisa-Livorno expressway (S.G.C. FI-PI-LI), then use "By car" instructions.
