Cascina, May 23rd - 27th, 2005
The fourth VIRGO-EGO-SIGRAV School on Gravitational Waves is organized by the Virgo Project and the Italian Society of General Relativity and Gravitation (SIGRAV).
The European Gravitational Observatory (EGO) consortium will sponsor the school.
School targets: To teach young physicists and engineers on gravitational waves, their astrophysical sources and on the technologies involved in their detection.
The courses will be devoted to students searching for a degree thesis argument, to PhD students and to postdocs.
The arguments of the 4th VIRGO-EGO-SIGRAV School will cover the following items:
| A primer on general relativity: ...up to the Einstein equation |
Universe evolution at the Planck time |
| Gravitational waves and detection principles |
LISA |
| Sources |
Radiation pressure cooling and Quantum non-demolition |
| Black Holes solutions and their properties |
Advanced ITF |
| Interferometers |
Control Theory |
| Optics |
Active controls in GW experiments |
| Coalescing binaries / periodic sources |
Data analysis: Binaries and Butsts |
| The discovery of double pulsars |
Resonant-mass detectorb> |
| Non linear analysis of periodic sources |
